Schneider Electric is the global specialist for energy efficient solutions. Their flexible and safe Schneider Electric KNX automation system is used as an automation solution for residential and commercial buildings, hotels, schools, hospitals, etc.
Schneider Electric KNX automation system
KNX system combines all the main functions of the building into one intelligent system. Consequently, it contributes to the operating costs reduction, significant energy savings as well as to the quick installation. Schneider Electric offers a complete assortment of products – from the strong design of the control interface through to all necessary DIN rail system components.
BUS installation
In conventional electrical installations, the control functions are mostly carried over the load cables. This means each function needs its own control cable. On the other hand, the two-wire installation – bus lines parallel to the 230V electrical supply – connect all devices and technology systems.
KNX system components
Fundamental components of KNX system are power supply units for generating bus voltage, couplers for connecting bus segments and interfaces for connecting programming devices.
Besides those components, every KNX system consists of sensors and actuators. Starting point of the system are the sensors – push-button, movement and presence detectors, room temperature control unit, binary input and other. They gather all the information and send it on the bus as a data telegram. On the other end of the system are actuators – switch, dimming, heating or blind actuator, KNX Dali-Gateway. They receive the data and convert it into actions. That can include controlling blinds, dimming lights or controlling HVAC.
In conclusion, as a global standard in building system technology, KNX intelligently connects distributed system components via a bus system for a truly comprehensive automation.
